Connecticut Wine Trail

With 26 vineyards along the Connecticut Wine Trail, it is a lovely addition to your Connecticut fall activities. Visit a few of the state’s preeminent wineries to support agricultural endeavors while encountering some of Connecticut’s most picturesque countryside.

Most trail members offer tastings and tours. Hopkins Vineyard in New Preston, Connecticut, is one of the most enchanting stops on the trail. This winery is on a 19th-century barn overlooking scenic Lake Waramaug and is an ideal place to spend a fall afternoon.

You may also enjoy picnicking at Sunset Meadow Vineyards in Goshen and enjoy live music on Sunday afternoons.

Fall Foliage

Take Advantage of Connecticut’s gorgeous fall foliage. One of the locals’ favorite things to do in Connecticut in the fall is to enjoy some leaf peeping!  It is common to begin the adventure in Greenwich, then drive up to Litchfield County.

The Merritt Parkway is another one of the top Connecticut fall foliage driving routes. This historic limited-access parkway is located in Fairfield County and is known for its scenic landscape, especially in the cooler months.

If you’d like to stay in town, enjoy an afternoon joyriding past Greenwich mansions surrounded by fall colors.

Festive Events

Attend some festive fall events. There are many annual events that take place in Connecticut each fall. The Bruce Museum Outdoor Arts Festival is a tradition that both locals and visitors anticipate. It is a two-day event celebrating local artists and showcases their work. Browse paintings, drawings, prints, sculptures, mixed-media pieces, and photography as you get to know the artists.

Another favorite fall festival in Connecticut is the Bridgeport Harvest Festival, which takes place 40 minutes northeast of Greenwich.

Apple Picking

Apple picking is THE fall activity! One of the best things about Connecticut in the fall is the opportunity to pick your own delicious fruit straight from the tree. There are several places to do this where you’ll find a “u-pick” orchard as well as live animals, tractor rides, and musical performances.

There are many popular farms such as  Warrup’s Farm,  where you’ll find fresh maple syrup and fantastic apple-picking.

Wherever you decide to go, make sure to have fun and stay safe!
