Taking the time to maintain your bike will not only keep you safe on the road, it will help you keep it in optimal condition and prevent major repairs later on.

Tires. Examine your tires carefully. Any cracks in the rubber, flat spots or nails and screws that may have punctured holes means it’s time to get new ones. If your tires are in good condition, make sure to check your tire pressure and make sure they are properly inflated.

Lights. Double check that your signal lights, brake lights and headlines work. Your lights communicate your moves on the road and are critical for your safety.

Brakes. Besides obviously checking them for functionality, taking a moment to look at your brakes can save you a lot of money down the road. Letting your brakes wear down to the metal part of the pad can destroy the drums or disk, which can cost a pretty penny to replace.

Riding gear. Check all your riding gear to make sure it’s in good shape. Worn boots, scratches on your helmet visor, and holes in your gloves may not protect you as well on the road.

Show it some love. Before you bring your motorcycle back out, take a moment to give it a thorough cleaning and wax-job. Not only will it help your bike achieve the shiny brand new look, it will protect your motorcycles paint job from the elements, ensuring it will last longer.
